Galerie Françoise Heitsch has been located in the heart of Maxvorstadt for more than three decades and during this time the gallery has developed into a central address for diverse and multi-layered international contemporary art.
At the beginning, the gallery's programme initially focused on artists from Munich and the German-speaking countries. Over the years, however, Françoise Heitsch has substantially broadened her focus and developed a reputation as an internationally active gallery. Originally trained as a multilingual translator, Françoise Heitsch places special emphasis on intercultural dialogue in her program. Born in Istanbul, the Greek gallerist with a French socialization sees herself as a universal human being. This universality is also reflected in the gallery's program and the lively exchange between her adopted home of Munich and her cultural roots in Greece and Turkey. Since 2005, works by Greek and, from 2012, Turkish artists have been presented. An important aspect is the reciprocity and appreciative support for art that is undogmatic and challenges conventional norms beyond language and culture.
