The exhibition “Troubled Fantômes” by Charlotte Eifler (30 April – 7 June) engages with questions of colonial collecting practices, technological regimes of vision, and the conditions under which visibility is produced and negotiated.
The Kunstraum München transforms into the “Fantôme Factory” – a hybrid assemblage of museum, catwalk, and crime scene. Among other works, the fictional fashion line “Contextual Couture” presents site-specific camouflage garments that render their wearers nearly invisible within museum spaces – thereby testing the possibility of discreetly returning objects that were removed in colonial contexts.
On Saturday, 16 May, at 5 pm, Charlotte Eifler and Elle Fierce will activate works from “Contextual Couture” as part of a performative intervention that temporarily codes the space and its objects.
Charlotte Eifler (she/her) is an artist, filmmaker, and Professor of Mixed Realities at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. Her artistic practice engages with politics of representation in relation to technology. Eifler’s projects employ experimental narrative strategies to interrogate existing power structures and to imagine alternative forms of historiography and social coexistence. She lives and works in Leipzig.
The work by Elle Fierce (she/they) speaks to the complexities and nuances within the tropes of Transness, Queerness, and Blackness. Approaching performance from an intersectional perspective, Fierce attempts to present alternate possibilities for connection and radical solidarity as an opportunity to explore the interconnectedness of our bodies. Fierce lives and works in London.

In der Ausstellung „Troubled Fantômes“ von Charlotte Eifler (30.4. – 7.6.) werden Fragen nach kolonialen Sammlungspolitiken, technologischen Blicksystemen und den Bedingungen von Sichtbarkeit verhandelt.
Der Kunstraum München wird zur ‚Fantôme Factory‘ – einem hybriden Gefüge aus Museum, Catwalk und Tatort. Unter anderem präsentiert die fiktive Modelinie ‚Contextual Couture‘ ortsspezifische Camouflage-Kleidung, die ihre Träger:innen in Museen nahezu unsichtbar macht – und so die Möglichkeit  erprobt, in kolonialen Kontexten entwendete Objekte unbemerkt zurückzugeben. 
Am Samstag, dem 16. Mai um 17 Uhr aktivieren Charlotte Eifler und Elle Fierce die Arbeiten von ‚Contextual Couture‘ im Rahmen einer performativen Intervention, die den Raum und seine Objekte temporär codiert.
Charlotte Eifler (sie/ihr) ist Künstlerin, Filmemacherin und Professorin für Mixed Realities an der Staatlichen Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe. In ihrer künstlerischen Praxis beschäftigt sie sich mit Repräsentationspolitiken im Verhältnis zu Technologie. Eiflers Projekte nutzen experimentelle Erzähltechniken, um bestehende Machtstrukturen zu hinterfragen und alternative Formen von Geschichtsproduktion und gesellschaftlichem Miteinander zu imaginieren. Eifler lebt und arbeitet in Leipzig.
Die Arbeiten von Elle Fierce (she/they) thematisieren die Komplexität und Nuancen innerhalb von Transness, Queerness und Blackness. Fierce nähert sich Performance aus einer intersektionalen Perspektive und versucht, alternative Möglichkeiten der Verbindung und radikalen Solidarität als Chance zu präsentieren, um die Verbundenheit unserer Körper zu erforschen. Fierce lebt und arbeitet in London.
