What happens when artists place children at the centre of their process?
The exhibition, “For Children,” presents artists who have turned to young people, creating artworks specifically for children and adolescents from 1968 to the present. It explores universal themes – such as humanity, society, politics, economics, ecology, technology, and the future – that we first encounter as children and that continue to resonate in adulthood. While the works primarily address children, these fundamental subjects invite visitors of all ages to engage in an intergenerational dialogue.

“Soy Energía” at Haus der Kunst is he first institutional survey exhibition of the artist Sandra Vásquez de la Horra in Europe and is dedicated to her experimental practice and focuses on her spatial, energetic, and global thinking. She combines transnational and Indigenous perspectives in her multidisciplinary artistic approach. Her oeuvre, which primarily comprises drawing and painting, as well as video and performance, encompasses complex events, stories, rituals, and beliefs rooted in her upbringing in Chile as well as in her many years of living in Germany.

Die Ausstellung „Für Kinder“ zeigt Werke, die seit 1968 gezielt für ein junges Publikum geschaffen wurden. Sie greift universelle Themen auf – von Menschlichkeit, Gesellschaft und Politik über Wirtschaft und Umwelt bis hin zu Technologie und Zukunft, mit denen wir bereits als Kinder in Berührung kommen und die uns ein Leben lang begleiten. Die Ausstellung lädt Besucher*innen aller Generationen dazu ein, miteinander in Dialog zu treten.

„Soy Energía“ im Haus der Kunst, ist die erste institutionelle Überblicksausstellung von der chilenische Künstlerin Sandra Vásquez de la Horra in Europa. Sie vereint in ihrer multidisziplinären künstlerischen Praxis transnationale und indigene Perspektiven. Ihr vor allem zeichnerisches und malerisches, aber auch filmisches und performatives Lebenswerk umfasst komplexe Ereignisse, Geschichten, Riten und Glaubensvorstellungen, die sowohl in ihrem Aufwachsen in Chile als auch in den vielen Jahren ihres Lebens in Deutschland wurzeln.
